2005
Martin sustained a major accident in the opening round of the Italian Open International Championship at Lonato, where he suffered a punctured lung. Out of action for two months, Martin spent much of 2005 recovering, competing in selected races:

· 2nd Formula Renault Italia, Hockenheim, round 9 – first single seater podium after clinching first pole position
· 7th Formula A Italian Open International Championship, Ugento
· 12th Formula A Italian Open International Championship, Muro Leccesse
· CIK/FIA Formula A World Kart Championship – ran as high as 8th before suffering engine failure

2004
· Selected by motorsport legend Alex Zanardi as sole works driver for Team Zanardi, world championship karting team
· Winner of CIK/FIA Formula A Asia Pacific Championship – only Team Zanardi’s third outing
· Elected as a member of the British Racing Drivers Club (BRDC) as a Rising Star
